Website Programming, Design and Maintenance

The Colorado WaterWise (CWW) is a non-profit organization with 15 Board members and 85 members. CWW recently made an investment to have our website redesigned and upgraded to allow more functionality and make it easier to use. However, our site is still not as user-friendly as we would like and needs customization of the existing site to meet our needs. We are now looking for a Website Programmer/Designer that will provide additional upgrades to our site (www.coloradowaterwise.org), web hosting, technical support and content management. We have a website with e-Commerce, membership database with online renewal, and e-newsletter capabilities.
If you have experience designing and working with Joomla-based content management systems (CMS), membership databases and member communications please respond. We are looking for an independent contractor or firm that we can work with on an ongoing basis that can provide these important services for our organization. The independent contractor or firm will be responsible for updating and maintenance of the current web site and creation of new designs and/or services. The ideal candidate will possess strong graphic design abilities, a mastery of Joomla and CSS (Cascading Syle Sheets), cross-browser standards and search engine optimization capabilities. Experience working with non-profits is a must.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Web hosting.
- Design, enhance, and maintain current and future web applications.
o Membership database management system
User-friendly online membership renewal and auto-reminders
User-friendly member profile application
Database structure must allow for multiple members under an umbrella organization (e.g. Platinum level member would include 5 individuals from one organization)
o Selective members-only access
o Option - Discussion forum
o Option - Online shopping cart
o E-newsletter
o Search engine optimization
o Navigation recommendations
- Work closely with non-profit organization to troubleshoot and design solutions.
- Provide technical support and content updates. Respond to technical support requests within 24 hours.
- Be an advocate for the usability of the applications from a customer perspective.
- Adapt to a rapidly changing environment and work creatively with minimal supervision.
- Provide user-friendly written instructions that will enable CWW Board members to make simple web updates and manage the member database.
Technical
Skills/Experience:
Minimum 5 years of website support and design experience. Experience with Joomla freeware, CSS programming, content management systems, WYSWYG editors and membership databases is required.
Requirements:
- Proposal shall provide estimates, including hourly rates, for each task (graphic design, custom programming, phone support, normal updates/maintenance, membership database). CWW will select a company with the standard practice of charging for services in 15 minute increments or less (not rounding to the nearest hour). Please note if sub-contractors will be used for any services.
- Proposal shall indicate web hosting provider and monthly hosting fees.
- Company must provide a copy of State of Colorado business license.
- Company must provide, at a minimum, 3 references of clients in Colorado.
- The 2010 budget for this proposal shall not exceed $4,000.
