Seeking a team of customer service-oriented interns who are interested in making a difference in their community. Primary job responsibilities include helping customers conserve water and save money by identifying problems and suggesting solutions to reduce outdoor water use, which accounts for 40% of the annual water use in Fort Collins. Interns will represent the City of Fort Collins Utilities while performing sprinkler system audits as part of the City’s Sprinkler Audit Program for residential customers and Xeriscape landscape inspections for Xeriscape Incentive Program (XIP) participants. For more information on these two programs, you can visit: fcgov.com/sprinkler-audits and fcgov.com/XIP. The position involves educating homeowners on a variety of water efficiency best practices, inspecting equipment and landscapes while collecting data outdoors, and completing reports in an office environment. Interns typically use their personal vehicle for all work-related travel and are reimbursed at the federal mileage rate. Interns may be assigned to work in pairs or individually. No prior experience with sprinkler systems or landscape inspections is required, just a passion for helping our community use our water resources wisely. Additional duties include assisting the Water Conservation Department in water shortage response planning and implementation, such as restrictions or voluntary response efforts, as well as other tasks, as needed. Our comprehensive mandatory training begins May 17th.
