We Are Colorado WaterWise
Addressing the state's water challenge by improving water efficiency through connecting diverse communities, creating innovative solutions, and providing valuable resources to our members
The commercial, industrial and institutional (CII) sector is rapidly becoming an area of focus for the water conservation field. Because the sector is so diverse, it can be difficult to identify and act upon opportunities for water efficiency.
In 2007, CWW partnered with Brendle Gruop to form the Commercial, Industrial and Institutional Water Conservation Committee, which published a report on benchmarking water use in this sector. For more information on the study and outcomes, please see the report.
Beginning in 2016, several front range utilities participated in a nationwide study of water use metrics in the sector funded by the Water Research Foundation. Learn more about the project, and get access to the research findings when published in late 2018.
The EPA WaterSense Program provides access to tools and training. Among these, a CII Water Assessment Tool developed for the City of Boulder is available for download. This assessment tool can be used by water utility staff, professional engineers, and end users to assess their water use while still allowing more advanced auditors to change assumptions and customize fields.
