As drought conditions continue to shape water management across Colorado, utilities and communities are navigating how to plan, communicate, and respond effectively in a rapidly changing climate. This webinar brings together statewide expertise and local perspectives to explore how drought is evolving across regions and how communities are adapting in real time. The session will begin with an overview from the Colorado Climate Center on current drought conditions, long-term trends, and what the latest science and modeling suggest for the future. Representatives from utilities across the Front Range, Western Slope, and High Country will then share how their communities are planning for drought, including operational strategies and messaging approaches. The webinar will also highlight practical tools and resources available through Colorado WaterWise to support drought planning and communication.

    Speakers:

    • Megan Killer, City of Aspen
    • Andrea Lopez, Ute Water
Come learn about Denver Water's 35-acre Operations Complex. This operationally efficient campus was designed to showcase the future of sustainable, urban water use. The complex models a One Water strategy with an ecological sanitation system (onsite wastewater treatment) that provides water for flushing toilets, rainwater capture for irrigation, and passive stormwater management.

The 1.5-hour tour focuses on the LEED Platinum-certified Administration Building, which is net zero energy, offset with 1.3 MW of onsite solar power. The surrounding native grass landscapes showcase climate resilience in central Denver.

Space is limited for this tour. Please arrive by 12:45 p.m.
