    Job Summary: 

    This position will be a leader and staff authority advising the Commissioner on water policy and engaging with stakeholders and agricultural water users to address water supply challenges. The position would be responsible for the implementation of agency action items identified in the Colorado Water Plan. This position will be the Department’s lead working with the Colorado Water Conservation Board, Colorado Ground Water Commission, Department of Natural Resources, Basin Roundtables, Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Water Conservation Districts, and agricultural water users to meet water supply and quality challenges while promoting a vibrant agricultural future. This position will travel upwards of 30-40 percent of the time meeting with stakeholders and municipalities throughout the state.

    Position Description:

    We are seeking a collaborative and impact-focused Researcher to support interdisciplinary research and analysis that advances water and climate resilience and environmental justice with an explicit focus on water-related challenges faced by and solutions for frontline communities in the United States. The ideal candidate will have a passion for water and climate equity and justice; strong applied research background; ability to work independently and in collaborative teams; an interest and ability to learn new topics quickly; and a willingness to support a variety of tasks from project coordination to rigorous qualitative and quantitative research, writing, and oral presentations. They must also be skilled at working across disciplines, cultures, and different ways of knowing and communicating. The Researcher must have the knowledge and experience to produce high-quality work at the intersection of climate change, water systems, and environmental justice.

    The Researcher will report to Pacific Institute’s Water & Climate Equity (WCE) Lead and support several water-climate-equity research projects as well as contribute to creating decision-support resources for frontline communities, community-based organizations, natural resource managers, and/or policymakers. Preferred applicants will have significant experience researching the equity and justice of climate and water-related environmental policies and practices and the distributional effects on vulnerable groups and disadvantaged communities. They will also have an aptitude for researching and communicating strategies and solutions for those communities to prepare for and respond to the impacts of climate change on their water systems. Additional opportunities beyond the initial 2 years will depend on performance and funding availability.

    Job summary: 

    The Electrician II/III is a skilled position in the inspection, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of water/wastewater treatment process equipment, pumping and lift station equipment, and automated process controls. Starting as an Electrician II requires a Journeyman Electrical license issued by the State of Colorado, or reciprocal state, and starting as an Electrician III requires a Master Electrical license issued by the State of Colorado, or reciprocal state. Work involves technical field maintenance projects, and the installation, inspection, repair, and testing of electrical and hydraulic equipment used in the processing and treatment of the City’s water and wastewater systems. Incumbent is responsible for coordinating a variety of tasks in maintaining a reliable treatments system program. Assignments and instructions received from the Plant Maintenance Supervisor and performed in accordance with established policies, procedures and technical guidelines with work reviewed through conferences, reports, and results obtained.

    The Stormwater Inspector position is responsible for assisting with the implementation and compliance of Adams County's stormwater quality management program to meet the requirements of the County's Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) discharge permit.     The field experience specialist is responsible for overseeing the logistics of field experiences, supporting ambassadors who lead field experience activities, and running the Well Watch program. Poudre Learning Center (PLC) programs are hands-on, place-based, and geared toward helping children and adults develop awareness, appreciation, passion, and stewardship for the natural world of the Cache la Poudre River Watershed.
