City of Aspen Qualified Water Efficient Landscaper Course

The City of Aspen is excited to host the Qualified Water Efficient Landscaper (QWEL) Training on September 22–24, 2026.

QWEL is an EPA WaterSense labeled professional certification program designed to help landscape professionals improve irrigation efficiency, reduce outdoor water use, and implement sustainable landscaping practices. The three-day course combines classroom instruction with hands-on field training covering:

·       Landscape water budgeting

·       Soil health and hydrozoning

·       Irrigation scheduling

·       Irrigation system auditing

·       Controller programming

·       Irrigation maintenance and troubleshooting

Participants who successfully complete the course become QWEL Certified and are eligible to perform third-party irrigation audits required under the City of Aspen's Water Efficient Landscaping Standards (WELS). Certified professionals are also listed on the QWEL, EPA WaterSense, and City of Aspen websites.

Registration is only $50 and includes course materials, testing, and lunch all three days.
