Addressing the state's water challenges by improving water efficiency through diverse community connections, innovative solutions and valuable member resources
Over the past few years regional water efficiency and conservation planning has emerged as a trend in Colorado and other states. Since 2014, Peter Mayer has worked with communities in Colorado’s Roaring Fork Valley, the Northern Colorado Water Conservancy District, and the New York City Department of Environmental Protection to develop three distinct regional water efficiency programs.
This lunch and learn presentation will describe these regional planning efforts and what made them similar and distinct. Peter will discuss the process of bringing participants to the table and finding ways to engage with water providers that have never before implemented water efficiency. He will also discuss the challenging task of moving beyond the planning phase into implementation and how these three distinct regions putting plans into action. This talk will also discuss the challenges and pitfalls that can be associated with a larger scale planning effort. Audience questions and participation are highly encouraged and welcome.
Please join us for an engaging discussion of regional water efficiency and conservation planning on October 11 at the Boulder Courthouse Building from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. This is a Brown Bag style event so feel free to bring your lunch or stop in Boulder to pick something up locally.
