Job Purpose 

Water is one of the most important issues facing Colorado, Resource Central is part of the solution by partnering with over 45 utilities and municipalities to promote water conservation and sustainable landscaping. The Conservation Engagement Coordinator will play an essential support role in the efforts of keeping Resource Central’s partners up-to-date, informed, and committed to program outcomes. This role will additionally assist in outreach to new communities and the upkeep and creation of cross-program, public-facing, web-based resources. Resource Central is seeking an energetic, detailed, and technologically savvy individual to help steward key relationships and deliver on a mission of ensuring a sustainable future for Colorado’s urban water supply.

This is a hybrid-remote role with great flexibility; occasional on-site work is required. Summer internship with BBA Water Consultants, Inc. (BBA), a water resources engineering firm located in Englewood, Colorado. The internship provides students with an opportunity to work on water resources and water rights projects with professional engineers, geologists, and hydrologists.

The prerequisites for the internship include the completion of a minimum of three years of undergraduate education and the completion of one or more introductory water resources engineering/hydrology/hydrogeology/geology/water rights courses. The starting and ending dates of the internship are flexible, but a minimum 8-week commitment is requested. BBA staff are working a hybrid work schedule, and we anticipate that the intern will work in the office approximately 4 days per week. Pay for this position will range from $20/hr to $25/hr, depending on qualifications of the applicant.

BBA provides water resources consulting services to a wide variety of clients, including municipalities, water conservation groups, agricultural water users, and residential communities. Many of our projects aim to help our clients plan for their future water demands, secure physically and legally available water supplies, and utilize their water in a sustainable and efficient manner.  

The internship is designed to provide the intern with a firm understanding of the foundation of water rights and water resource development in Colorado. Opportunities available to the intern may include: developing location maps; interpreting geologic mapping; analyzing datasets utilizing online databases, Excel, or Access; measuring water levels; measuring streamflow; supporting test or production well drilling; investigating trends in climate, snowpack, water levels, and streamflow; and modeling aquifer and river conditions.

Rocky Mountain Water Resources Lead

What We’re Looking For:

WestWater Research is seeking qualified applicants for a Water Resources Lead in our Fort Collins, Colorado office. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in Western U.S. water rights, water resources, and/or water supply planning and management. The successful candidate will be responsible for water supply planning, water right transaction advisory, water asset valuations, and management of projects and staff teams. Experience in water rights transactions and water resource economics is preferred, but not required. This position will provide essential knowledge on Colorado water rights including water court and administrative water right processes.  Experience with water rights administration in other Western States is preferred.

The position is ideally suited for technical water professionals who desire to broaden their economic, finance, and business skillsets. The Water Resources Lead will become a subject matter expert and thought leader in Rocky Mountain water markets.

What You Will Be Doing:

1.     Water Supply Planning and Acquisition

The Water Resources Lead will assist clients in planning and developing raw water supplies through technical water resource studies and advising acquisition of water rights. The position will lead water supply planning studies to inventory, evaluate, and recommend water supply acquisition and development alternatives. The position will assist acquisition implementation, including origination, negotiation, and execution of water right transactions.

2.     Water Market Research

The position will manage projects that evaluate water rights trading activity in the Rocky Mountain market region. The Water Resources Lead will become a subject matter expert on water market activity in the region by developing an understanding of market dynamics, commonly traded assets, regulatory process, and by developing professional relationships with market participants. The position will provide direction on identifying, researching, and collecting data on water right trades. The position will also lead development of market reports that describe current trends and changes in trading activity and pricing. In addition, the position will develop and maintain communication with industry professionals within the region.

3.     Water Valuation Projects

The position will provide water asset valuations, financial analysis, economic reports, and other client deliverables completed through a collaborative process involving both associates and senior staff. The position will be responsible for managing projects that include data collection, analysis, and report writing. Strong project management, analytical, and writing skills are required.

4.     Water Right Consulting

The Water Resources Lead will advise clients on a wide range of water rights and water resource matters. Clients will include municipalities, water utilities, industrial water users, developers, investors, agricultural producers, and individual water right owners. The position will individually contribute and manage small teams to complete consulting projects.l   The position will not engage in water court activity.

Minimum Qualifications:

·  Excellent analytical, quantitative, and investigative skills

·  Ability to present complex data in a simplified and meaningful way.

·  Ability to apply knowledge and creativity to resolve complex issues.

·  Proficiency in statistical and financial modeling.

Location: The position will be located in Fort Collins, CO. Remote or hybrid working options will be considered on an individual basis.

Compensation:

The Water Resources Lead is a salaried position within WestWater and offers a comprehensive compensation package including health benefits, 401k retirement plan, and an opportunity for annual bonus and company profit sharing. GIS Analyst 

This position, under guidance of the GIS Coordinator, is responsible for data creation, map and application development, spatial analysis, and maintenance of GIS data within the City’s Enterprise geodatabase environment. Provides GIS training and end user support to City staff as well as fulfilling map and data requests from internal and external stake holders as needed. Civil Engineer

The Water and Wastewater Engineer/Project Manager for Loveland Water and Power (Civil Engineer I or II) performs professional engineering and project management for water and wastewater projects. In addition, they provide expertise and the ability to lead a team of individuals in the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of transmission, distribution, pumping, and treatment process related systems. This position is a resource for other employees and operations staff in providing technical knowledge in hydraulics, internal design, and constructability reviews. Irrigation Maintenance Worker

Irrigation system audits and maintenance is the lifeblood of a parks department. As a part of our team, you will support our irrigation technicians in the audits, renovation, maintenance, and repair of our systems. Environmental Protection Intern - Water Quality Permit Writer

These positions exists to train a permit writer to implement technology and water quality based regulations that protect human health and the environment through permit actions and other authorizations. Work is designed to train for the next higher level in the class series (EPS I) and prepare the permit writer to be an individual contributor and carry out established work processes and operations by learning to apply and follow procedures, techniques, rules, and regulations. The individual filling this position will be new to the Division and entry level. The individual will need to undergo complete training to implement environmental protection regulations through permit actions. It is expected that during this training period the permit action assignments will be more structured and straightforward. The individual will need to understand the basic theories and principles of physical sciences, including hydrology and chemistry.

The Colorado River Project Coordinator (Coordinator) represents Colorado River water users in Colorado, Wyoming, and Utah in the implementation of the Upper Colorado River Endangered Fish Recovery Program (Recovery Program) ( https://coloradoriverrecovery.org/uc/ ). A broad coalition of twenty-three water users in Colorado and Utah provide funding for a Coordinator through the Colorado Water Congress Colorado River Project (Project). Plant Operator I - IV - Water Treatment Plants

This is technically skilled work in the operation and maintenance of two Class A Water Treatment Facilities requiring independent working abilities on an assigned shift. It is a mandatory requirement of this position to work rotating 12-hour shifts; including nights, weekends, and holidays and at times required to be on call. The operator must demonstrate flexibility, and be willing to accommodate changes in the work schedule as required, to provide vacation and general leave coverage for coworkers. The Plant Operator will receive training and instruction to learn the essential functions of a Plant Operator I–IV. This is a safety sensitive position.
